he infrared thermal system was originally developed for use in medicine. Nowadays, infrared cabins are used by the general public, and infrared saunas for household use are also available on the market.

What type of radiation is it and what actually is infrared radiation?

The infrared sauna is an absolutely safe appliance and its radiation has nothing in common with UV-radiation or with nuclear radiation. Infrared (or thermal) radiation is radiation whose wavelength is longer than that of visible light. Therefore the infrared rays cannot be seen but we can sense them as heat. It is a principle similar to that of the Sun heating the Earth. This "radiating heat" warms solids directly without heating the surrounding air.

How does our body benefit from infrared radiation?

Infrared rays are absorbed directly via tissues and they penetrate to approx. 3cm depth. This results in a so-called warming effect with heat coming directly to muscular tissues and organs. In common saunas almost all air heats up to approx. 90°C. Heat conduction in the environment results in skin contact. In an infrared sauna, on the other hand, air heats up only minimally. The air temperature in infrared saunas is about 55°C. Thanks to that, infrared saunas are also suitable for those with cardiovascular problems. Over 80% of infrared rays penetrate directly to the body. Thus the rate of sweating increases 2-3 times compared to a stay in a traditional sauna.

Saunas are equipped with a glazed door and model S-III is fitted with a glazed window in order to ensure the airy design of the sauna. They are provided with outside lighting, which is located in the sauna roof over the door. Each sauna has 2 control panels - outside and inside.

Infrared saunas are designed for interior use.
